Take the A100 autobahn (toward Dresden) to Exit B96/Tempelhofer Damm. Left exit onto Tempelhofer Damm. Drive straight ahead until Mehringdamm. Turn left onto Hallesches Ufer. Turn left onto Schöneberger Strasse, and then drive into Luckenwalder Strasse.

Public transport services are provided by [http://www.bvg.de/index.php/en/Bvg/Start BVG] with underground trains, trams and buses, - and by the [http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/englisch/ S-Bahn Berlin], ie urban trains.
+
You’ll find STATION Berlin on the right side.
-
On the "S-Bahn Ring" (circle line) there are two lines:
+
=== By Train ===
-
The S41 goes clockwise - and the S42 goes counter-clockwise.
+
Take national trains to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Main Station).
+
Way 1: RE3, RE4, RE5 (RegionalExpress) to Potsdamer Platz and U2 to Gleisdreieck, 1 min. walk to STATION Berlin.
+
Way 2: RE1, RE2, RE7 (RegionalExpress), S5, S7 (S-Bahn) to Potsdamer Platz and U2 (U-Bahn) to Gleisdreieck, 1 min. walk.

There are two intersection of the circle line with other urban trains;

the West one of "West Cross" (Westkreuz), and
+
Lines S1/ S2/ S25/ S26 to S-Anhalter Bahnhof followed by an approx. 8 min. walk

the one in the East is "East Cross" (Ostkreuz).
+
-
All non-circle line trains going through Westkreuz
+
-
go to Ostkreuz (and vice versa) and
+
-
do not divert to the North or South.
+
-
So it is pretty easy travelling between them

as you can take '''any''' train.

You just need to know whether you need to go West or East. ;)

There are three tariff zones - A, B, and C.

* Zone A is the part within the circle line, including the circle line.
+
Bus number 248 to Möckernstraße, within walking distance (approx. 8 min.) you can reach S-Anhalter Bahnhof. It is serviced by Bus M41, among others.
-
* Zone B is Berlin within city limits except for Zone A.

* Zone C is around Berlin (ca 15km), including Oranienburg and Potsdam.

You can reach Tegel Airport using public regional transit by connecting with the S-Bahn light rail (S41/42 to Jungfernheide Station), the U-Bahn subway (U7 to Jakob-Kaiser-Platz Station) or the bus (bus lines X9 and 109). Travel time from either airport to City Center/Potsdamer Platz – depending on local traffic – is between 25 to 45 minutes.

Public transport services include underground trains, trams and buses operated by [http://www.bvg.de/ BVG], and local trains operated by the [http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/ Berlin S-Bahn]. The two companies accept the same tickets, and use the same concentric fare zones, A, B and C.

==== Directions from East/West ====
+
Note: For reasons too complicated and political to be mentioned here, the Berlin S-Bahn currently provides irregular service. Please check the website for current information.
-
When coming from the East, e.g. from "Alexanderplatz" or "Berlin Hauptbahnhof", take one of these lines going West in direction of "Spandau".

Zone C: Berlin environs (about 15 km from the city limits), including the city of Potsdam and Schönefeld airport

When coming from the West (eg Spandau) then you must go East towards "Flughafen Schönefeld" with S9 or "Wartenberg" with the S75.

If you are in fare zone C, you need a ticket for A+B+C.

When the "S-Bahn Ring" (circle line) is easy to reach for you, you can take the urban trains S41 and S42. Go unto station "Westkreuz" and change there to S9 or S75 in direction to "Spandau".

If you are going to ride more than twice in one day, get a day pass. If you want to stay for the entire fair and also see the city, get a five-day or seven-day pass.

==== Charge ====
+
Some gotchas: Bicycles require a supplementary ticket. Schönefeld airport is in zone C.
-
When coming from within tariff zones A or B then simply buy a ticket for zones A+B.
+
-
When you come from zone C (eg from Potsdam), then the best choice is a ticket for "ABC".

-

-
* When your hotel is very near to the fairgrounds then a '''short trip ticket''' ("Kurzstrecke") might suffice. This ticket costs '''1.30€''' and allows you to go for six hops. A hop by bus or tram is a single hop, however, a hop by underground or urban trains account for two hops each.

-
* A '''single ticket''' ("Einzelfahrausweis") costs '''2.10€''' and is valid for two hours - but only for one direction! You must not go back to the beginning. A day ticket, however, allows going on all directions for a whole day. So maybe want to consider this.

-
* A '''day ticket''' is available for '''6.10€''' and is valid for the whole day and until 3 a.m. of the next day. The day ticket is worth it when you want to travel to the LinuxTag and may want to explore the city or attend the LinuxNight also.

-
* '''Three day ticket''': ...

-
* '''Week pass''': When you are here for four days then a three day ticket will not suffice - and an extra day ticket exceeds the cost for a week pass. So you might as well buy a week pass - and give it to someone just before you leave at the airport or station.
