June 1 has been declared a "voluntarily car-free day" in Berlin (see http://www.ringfrei-berlin.de/). Several events are planned for this day.

the ADFC (the German bicycle club) has scheduled its yearly "Sternfahrt" for this day. In 2007, about 250,000 people participated in this event. See http://www.fahrradsternfahrt.de/home/sternfahrt2008 for current information. Note that parts of the "Stadtautobahn" may be closed for this event.
the BVG may offer discounted tickets for this day, according to the press release on http://www.berlinonline.de/aktuelles/berlin/detail_ddp_2102473270.php
