Moderators wanted!

This year's conference at LinuxTag offers more than 30 tracks that cover subjects for every interest. To guide our visitors through the schedule, LinuxTag is looking for volunteer moderators. They host one or several tracks and manage a lecture hall for one or more days.

This is a great opportunity to become acquainted with speakers and contributors of the Open Source ecosystem. Some basic understanding of the subjects in this year's schedule is useful, but not mandatory. You may pick your session on a first come, first served basis. You may need some basic English and German language skills, but you do not need to be a native speaker.

A moderator has to

  • introduce the speaker to the audience of about 50 - 250 attendees,
  • ensure the presentation does end on time and keep the lecture room on schedule,
  • moderate the question and answer session,
  • help the next speaker to set-up the presentation, and
  • thank the speaker and the visitors.

We provide you with access to background information about the schedule and speakers as well as with a detailed guide of your specific duties in advance. In return LinuxTag offers you:

  • a free full conference pass for you and a friend,
  • an official LinuxTag team T-Shirt,
  • a free ticket for our social event (LinuxNacht) in case you volunteer for two days, or
a subsidised ticket for our social event in case you volunteer for one day,
  • free catering during your stay at LinuxTag, and
  • on request: a certificate accounting your duties for job applications.

In case you want to get to know some of LinuxTag's speakers first hand, this is your chance! Additionally, you give back to the Open Source community. If you are interested in participating at Europe's leading event for Free Software by taking ownership of one of our tracks, please contact our conference committee at conference@linuxtag.org with a brief introduction of yourself and a list of sessions you would be interested to host.
